Basketball Game Preview: Stockdale Mustangs vs. Frontier Titans

The Stockdale Mustangs will face off against the Frontier Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stockdale has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Frontier will come in with seven straight victories.

Stockdale is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Liberty on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Stockdale had to suffer through a 72-27 loss at the hands of Liberty. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-13.

Meanwhile, Frontier was able to grind out a solid win over Centennial on Thursday, taking the game 51-41.

Frontier's win came from a few key players Stockdale will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alexis Tinnin, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lailene Araniva, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards.

Frontier smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 16 consecutive games.

Frontier is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Stockdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Stockdale took a serious blow against Frontier when the teams last played on January 9th, falling 65-23. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Stockdale was down 37-8.
