Recap: Shalom Christian Academy Flames vs. Goretti Gael
After a string of three wins, the Shalom Christian Academy Flames's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 59-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Goretti. Shalom Christian Academy lost against Goretti in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 46-24 score last time.
Shalom Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Adams, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. The game was Adams' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Madison Moretti, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Shalom Christian Academy's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-5. As for Goretti, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Shalom Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against New Life Christian at 5:15 p.m. on January 12th. New Life Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Goretti, they will face off against Berlin Brothersvalley at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Berlin Brothersvalley is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
