Hagen Hughes Delivers Best Effort of Season

Azle was led to victory by Hagen Hughes, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Hughes rushed for 251 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.

The win for Azle keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Hughes' next matchup is against Fossil Ridge on Friday, where he'll look to repeat that solid performance.

Lamar Leggins Turns in Season-Best Performance

Sadly, Lamar Leggins posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Birdville over Azle on Friday. Leggins rushed for 182 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

Birdville is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4. Leggins and Birdville will challenge Denton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Drew Kates Crosses Big Stat Threshold

Richland picked up their sixth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Drew Kates. Kates showed up in a big way, throwing for 363 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 42 yards. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 3.2 passing touchdowns per game. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

Richland pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Kates will have a chance to log another big game when he takes on Ryan on Friday.

Aledo Gets a Boost from Guillory Jr in 42-27 Victory

Aledo picked up their fifth consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Raycine Guillory Jr. Guillory Jr turned in nothing short of a gem, rushing for 165 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 33 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Aledo's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Guillory Jr and Aledo will square off against Granbury at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

The second Birdville player making an appearance here is Zach Wells, and for good reason. He threw for 463 yards and two touchdowns.
