Preview: Chaparral Pumas vs. Temecula Valley Golden Bears
Chaparral is 8-2 against Temecula Valley since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Chaparral Pumas will head out on the road to face off against the Temecula Valley Golden Bears at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Chaparral focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday.
Even though Chaparral has not done well against Murrieta Mesa recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Chaparral walked away with a 46-33 victory over Murrieta Mesa. The victory was some much needed relief for Chaparral as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Chaparral's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Maya Ford, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Zetta Faasua, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Faasua is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sydney Ford, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Temecula Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 57-40 bruising from Vista Murrieta.
The victory got Chaparral back to even at 10-10. As for Temecula Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Chaparral came up short against Temecula Valley in their previous matchup on January 5th, falling 57-46. Can Chaparral avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
