Basketball Recap: Academy of Careers & Exploration Comes Up Short

Academy of Careers & Exploration was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 61-2 loss at the hands of the Excelsior Charter Eagles. The Eagle lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 33-28 score last time.

Academy of Careers & Exploration's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Excelsior Charter, the victory snapped their losing streak at eight games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-6 record.

Academy of Careers & Exploration will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lucerne Valley at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. After both having extra time off, Excelsior Charter and Academy for Academic Excellence will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 4:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Excelsior Charter is facing Academy for Academic Excellence at the right time seeing as Academy for Academic Excellence is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
