Softball Game Preview: North Shelby Raiders vs. Schuyler County Rams

North Shelby is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Monday. They are taking a road trip to face off against the Schuyler County Rams at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Shelby has six straight wins, Schuyler County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

North Shelby is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Scotland County on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Raiders with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, Schuyler County came up short against Albany on Saturday and fell 9-4.

Halle Roberts and Maddox Berry did some serious damage despite the final result: Roberts went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run, while Berry went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Berry is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Schuyler County now has a losing record of 5-6. As for North Shelby, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Everything went North Shelby's way against Schuyler County in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as North Shelby made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
