Basketball Recap: Lakeview Charter Drops Highest Score of Season Against Valley Oaks CES

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeview Charter). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 69-13 win over the Valley Oaks CES Vanguards. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 26 points or more this season.

Lakeview Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evelyn Quinonez led the charge by dropping a double-double with 19 points and 13 steals. With that strong performance, Quinonez is now averaging an impressive 15 points per game. Another player making a difference was Melina Jiminez, who went 8-for-12 on her way to 20 points and six steals.

Lakeview Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Lakeview Charter pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.4 points over those games. As for Valley Oaks CES, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.
