Softball Recap: Community Comes Up Short

Community dropped down to 4-10 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Mark Twain Tigers, falling 10-4. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 17-7 to the Tigers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Peyton Schafer made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

As for Mark Twain, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.

On Mark Twain's side, Maylie Boling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Boling was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Ella Moss was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Wilkinson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Community will welcome Monroe City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mark Twain, they will head out on the road to square off against Clopton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.56 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
