Basketball Recap: Palm Desert Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

If Indio wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Palm Desert, they should've done a better job of containing Katelyn Gallagher. The Palm Desert Aztecs claimed a resounding 58-11 victory over the Indio Rajahs thanks in part to Gallagher, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 20 points and five steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 32 times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Tiffany Chang, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (two).

Palm Desert is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.3 points per game. As for Indio, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Palm Desert will square off against Corona at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Corona will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Palm Desert surely won't give up without a fight. As for Indio, they will host Desert Chapel at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Desert Chapel's defense has only allowed 29.9 points per game this season, so Indio's offense will have their work cut out for them.
