Baseball Game Preview: Centerville Elks vs. Badin Rams

Centerville is 1-6 against Badin since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Elks will challenge the Rams at 10:00 a.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Centerville comes in on 19 and Badin on 16.

Centerville barely beat Troy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Elks never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Elks, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Badin faced Springboro in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Rams came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-1. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly three runs.

Nick Vess looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Vangen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Chandler Taylor was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Badin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Centerville's record is now 22-2. As for Badin, their record now sits at 20-3.

Centerville skirted past Badin 6-5 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Elks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
