Basketball Recap: Ariel De La O's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Freedom over Redwood

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Freedom can now relate to. They took a hard 63-45 fall against the Redwood Giants on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Giants are ranked 77th).

Freedom lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ariel De La o, who posted 17 points. The game was her fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Eve Monzon, who put up 14 points.

Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Redwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season.

Freedom does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Redwood, they will host Montgomery at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
