Basketball Recap: Western Comes Up Short

Western was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 44-19 to the La Quinta Aztecs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-14 back in November of 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Katie Nguyen, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points along with five boards and three steals. Dung (Krystal Tran was another key player, putting up four points and nine rebounds.

Western's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for La Quinta, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western will welcome Century at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for La Quinta, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Los Amigos at 3:00 p.m.
