Basketball Game Preview: Fillmore Flashes vs. Nordhoff Rangers + Official Tickets

Fillmore is 0-10 against Nordhoff since April of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Flashes will host the Rangers at 6:00 p.m. Nordhoff took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Fillmore, who comes in off a win.

Fillmore took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Channel Islands by a score of 46-34. While the Flashes didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Fillmore's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucy Murillo, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 18 boards. Murillo has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 18 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hermelinda Ocegueda, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 boards.

Fillmore smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Nordhoff lost to Carpinteria on the road by a 54-39 margin on Wednesday.

Nordhoff's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Fillmore, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Things could have been worse for Fillmore, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 36-22 loss to Nordhoff in their previous matchup back in January. Thankfully for the Flashes, Cadence Renshaw (who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
