Preview: Thomas A. Edison Owls vs. West Philadelphia Speedboys

Thomas A. Edison is 3-0 against West Philadelphia since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Thomas A. Edison Owls will be home for the holidays to greet the West Philadelphia Speedboys at 3:15 p.m.

Last Wednesday, Thomas A. Edison came up short against Paul Robeson and fell 41-31. While losing is never fun, Thomas A. Edison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Paul Robeson is ranked 129th).

Meanwhile, West Philadelphia was fully in charge on Wednesday, breezing past Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush 40-4 at home. That 40-4 margin sets a new team best for West Philadelphia this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Philadelphia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devin Sadat, who scored six points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Mouye Tall, who scored 11 points.

Thomas A. Edison's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for West Philadelphia, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Thomas A. Edison beat West Philadelphia 50-40 in their previous meeting back in February of 2020. Will Thomas A. Edison repeat their success, or does West Philadelphia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
