Softball Recap: Duluth Victorious

Duluth's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Norcross Blue Devils. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Kaylie Zirger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in September. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Saniya Simmons, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kate Camarena, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Duluth's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Norcross, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-21.

Looking ahead, Duluth will venture away from home to square off against Mill Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Norcross, they will challenge Meadowcreek at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
