Soccer Recap: Owen Comes Up Short

Owen entered their match against Polk County on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Warhorses fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Owen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Polk County are ranked 47th).

Owen's goal came courtesy of Spencer Woolley, who's now up to 13 this season.

Owen's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Polk County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-0-2 record this season.

Owen didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-0 win against Avery County on the 17th. As for Polk County, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-2 victory against Mountain Heritage on the 22nd.
