Baseball Recap: Pace Academy Drops Season-High Score on Mays

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pace Academy). They blew past the Mays Raiders 25-1 on Friday. With that win, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 7.7 runs per game.

Dylan Nelson and Tyson Dawson did most of the damage at the plate: Nelson scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Dawson scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Dawson a new career-high in runs. Davis Morrison also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Pace Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .771. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory (which was Pace Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 5-6. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.67 hits in those games compared to only 4.5 in the others. As for Mays, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Pace Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mays: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
