Basketball Game Preview: Diego Rivera Huskies vs. Hawkins Hawks

Two dominant guards in Desiree Aguillon and Coretta Williams are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Diego Rivera Huskies will face off against the Hawkins Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Diego Rivera will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

Diego Rivera is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Canoga Park 55-17. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Brianna Collins and Aguillon were among the main playmakers for Diego Rivera as the former posted 31 points along with six boards and six steals and the latter had 22 points and five rebounds. Collins has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 43 times she's played. Adriana Munoz was another key player, putting up no points in addition to six rebounds and five blocks.

Diego Rivera smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Hawkins had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They strolled past the Pumas with points to spare, taking the game 48-30.

Diego Rivera pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points over those games. As for Hawkins, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
