Softball Recap: Thornton Starts off Right with Win over Resurrection Christian

Thornton had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Resurrection Christian Cougars by a score of 8-5. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 19-8 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Layla Martinez, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Izabella Groover, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thornton will venture away from home to square off against Denver East at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Resurrection Christian, they will head out to challenge Forge Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
