Basketball Game Preview: Pioneer Titans vs. Oxford Academy Patriots

Pioneer has gone 10-0 against Oxford Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Pioneer Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Oxford Academy Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Pioneer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.7 points per game this season.

Pioneer's tournament run continued when they took on Bishop's on Saturday. Pioneer strolled past Bishop's with points to spare, taking the game 54-37. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

Pioneer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Almendarez, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most points Almendarez has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryanna Reyes, who posted 12 points in addition to six assists and five steals.

Meanwhile, Oxford Academy won against Artesia on Tuesday with 44 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Oxford Academy managed a 44-40 win over Woodbridge.

Oxford Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points per game. As for Pioneer, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Pioneer strolled past Oxford Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 54-35. Will Pioneer repeat their success, or does Oxford Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
