Volleyball Recap: Orange Glen Takes a Loss

If Orange Glen was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Escondido Adventist Academy on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Patriots took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the San Ysidro Cougars on Tuesday. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-27, 25-19, 25-19.

Among those leading the charge was Kaylie Gutierrez, who had eight aces and six digs. Those eight aces gave her a new career-high.

Orange Glen has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for San Ysidro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orange Glen will square off against Guajome Park Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Ysidro, they will face off against Chula Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
