Softball Recap: Durango Has No Trouble Against Eagle Valley

Durango won the last time they faced Eagle Valley and things went their way on Saturday too. The Demons were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Devils. The result was nothing new for the Demons, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jenna Glueck made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Avery Clair was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Marcela Jimenez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Durango and bumps their season record up to 9-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Eagle Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10-2 record this season.

Durango will venture away from home to square off against Fruita Monument at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Eagle Valley, they will welcome Palisade at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
