Football Recap: Skyridge Falls Short Against Ranked Corner Canyon

Skyridge faced Corner Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Falcons took a blow against the Chargers, falling 49-14. The game marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Although Skyridge took the loss, they still got scores from Beckham Bennett and Kaneal Sweetwyne.

Corner Canyon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Carruth, who rushed for 65 yards and four TDs on only nine carries. Another passer making a difference was Helaman Casuga, who threw for 301 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt.

Skyridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Corner Canyon, their record now sits at 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skyridge will face off against Lone Peak at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Corner Canyon, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on American Fork at 7:00 p.m. on October 9.
