Soccer Recap: Saint Mary's Starts Season with Win Against Richmond

Saint Mary gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Richmond Oilers a 7-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for Saint Mary's in their matchups with Richmond: they've now won six in a row.

Saint Mary's offense was hitting Richmond from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Sophia De Loa Ramirez led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

This is the second loss in a row for Richmond and nudges their season record down to 3-2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Saint Mary's will challenge Albany at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Richmond, they will venture away from home to challenge Skyline at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
