Basketball Recap: Franklin County Comes Up Short

Franklin County fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Wakulla on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wakulla War Eagles by a score of 68-66. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Seahawks have suffered against the War Eagles since February 6, 2018.

When it comes to explaining why Franklin County lost, don't look at Sadiq Jones. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards. Jones' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Michael Miller, who posted eight points in addition to 13 rebounds and three steals.

Wakulla's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zavion Carnline, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Carnline continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Ryheem Moore was another key player, as he made all 7 shots he took to post 18 points.

Franklin County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for Wakulla, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11.

Franklin County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-60 win against North Bay Haven Academy on the 17th. As for Wakulla, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-25 defeat against North Florida Christian on the 17th.
