Basketball Game Preview: Port Allegany Gators vs. Coudersport Falcons

Port Allegany has won four straight games at home, while Coudersport has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Port Allegany Gators will take on the Coudersport Falcons in a tournament on Wednesday. Port Allegany will be strutting in after a win while Coudersport will be coming in after a defeat.

Coudersport better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Port Allegany really get things going. Everything went Port Allegany's way against Austin on Monday as Port Allegany made off with a 44-22 victory. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Ella Moses continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Brynn Evens was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Port Allegany smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Coudersport managed to keep up with Otto-Eldred until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Coudersport came up short against Otto-Eldred, falling 51-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Falcons have suffered since January 17th.

Port Allegany is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Coudersport, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-7.

Everything went Port Allegany's way against Coudersport when the teams last played back in January, as Port Allegany made off with a 54-28 win. In that matchup, Port Allegany amassed a halftime lead of 30-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
