Basketball Game Preview: West Philadelphia Speedboys vs. Paul Robeson Huskies

West Philadelphia and Paul Robeson are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The West Philadelphia Speedboys will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Paul Robeson Huskies at 1:00 p.m.

West Philadelphia is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 56 points last Monday, they were much more limited against Executive Education Academy Charter School on Thursday. They were beaten by the Raptors 48-20. The Speedboys were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-11.

Despite the defeat, West Philadelphia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kashay Ryder posted ten points. Ryder is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Meanwhile, Paul Robeson strolled past Mariana Bracetti Academy with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 63-45. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

Paul Robeson pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for West Philadelphia, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

West Philadelphia strolled past Paul Robeson when the teams last played last Monday by a score of 56-39. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Paul Robeson's Ashley Robinson, who put up 37 points.
