Softball Recap: Pierce Takes a Loss

Boone Central hit Pierce with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bluejays took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The Bluejays have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Evelyn Skrdla made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Kinley Hilkemann also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Pierce's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Boone Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Pierce wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Wayne on the 16th. As for Boone Central, they will head out to take on St. Paul at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
