Flag Football Recap: Avery Openshaw's Menacing Defense Leads Higley over Williams Field + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gilbert, Higley was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 24-14 win over the Williams Field Black Hawks. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

Higley found their leader in sophomore Sophia Moreira, who picked up 105 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Higley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Avery Openshaw and Jayla Freeman were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece. Freeman got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Although Williams Field took the loss, they still got scores from Myah Rayburn and Zoe Zuviate.

Higley's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Williams Field, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Higley has already played their next game, a 69-0 loss against Highland on the 5th. As for Williams Field, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 41-9 defeat against Queen Creek on the 5th.
