Basketball Recap: El Primero Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

El Primero had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Summit Tahoma Tigers by a score of 35-27. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 38-13 back in January.

El Primero's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashley Valladares, who posted nine points in addition to five boards and five steals. Valladares is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kelsy Murguia was another key player, putting up 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

El Primero smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

El Primero's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.3 points over those games. As for Summit Tahoma, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

El Primero has already played their next game, a 44-13 victory against Luis Valdez Leadership Academy on the 12th. Summit Tahoma does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
