Hagen Hughes Delivers Best Performance of Season

On Friday, Azle got the W thanks in part to Hagen Hughes playing the best football he has all season. Hughes rushed for 251 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.

The victory for Azle keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Hughes and Azle are taking a road trip to challenge Fossil Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

A Season-Best Performance from Lamar Leggins Leads Birdville over Azle

On Friday, Birdville had to settle for second even though Lamar Leggins put up the best numbers he has all season. Leggins rushed for 182 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

Birdville is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4. Leggins and Birdville will square off against Denton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Drew Kates Crosses Big Stat Threshold

Drew Kates was instrumental in extending Richland's winning streak to six on Friday. Kates made a major impact, throwing for 363 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 42 yards. Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 3.2 passing touchdowns per game. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

Richland's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Kates will have a chance to log another big game when he takes on Ryan on Friday.

Raycine Guillory Jr and Co. Win Fifth in a Row

Raycine Guillory Jr was instrumental in extending Aledo's winning streak to five on Friday. Guillory Jr was excellent, rushing for 165 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 33 receiving yards and a touchdown. The performance once again pushed his average rushing yardage north of 100 yards per game (108.5).

Aledo's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Guillory Jr will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant effort when he faces off against Granbury on Friday.

Wells Came Up Big in Birdville's 48-43 Defeat

The second Birdville player making an appearance here is Zach Wells, and for good reason. He threw for 463 yards and two touchdowns.

For the year, Wells has thrown 9 touchdowns while averaging 188.7 passing yards per game.
