Football Game Preview: La Marque Cougars vs. Harmony School of Innovation Wildcats

The La Marque Cougars will take on the Harmony School of Innovation Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (La Marque has three straight wins, Harmony School of Innovation has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

La Marque is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Wharton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cougars blew the Tigers out of the water with a 36-6 final score. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four matchups by 30 points or more so far this season.

Cory Hosea produced another solid performance rushing for 267 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Deuce Walker, who threw for 190 yards and one TD while completing 80% of his passes.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something La Marque proved: they limited Wharton to a paltry 2.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Anthony James for the heroic effort on defense: he. La Marque didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.8.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Harmony School of Innovation's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 71-0 to Columbia, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1218th, while the Roughnecks are ranked 452nd).

La Marque's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Harmony School of Innovation, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for La Marque against Harmony School of Innovation in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 76-0 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
