Basketball Recap: Ontario Christian Knights vs. San Joaquin Memorial Panthers
In what's become a running theme this season, the Ontario Christian Knights gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat San Joaquin Memorial 101-55 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Ontario Christian sure is getting used to it with their 15th in a row.
Kaleena Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 for 16 from beyond the arc en route to 37 points and 7 assists. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Ontario Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karsen Marshall, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds.
San Joaquin Memorial lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amieya Walters, who scored 15 points. Alexa Perryman was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
San Joaquin Memorial struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ontario Christian pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Ontario Christian's win bumped their record up to 22-3. As for San Joaquin Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Ontario Christian will be playing at home against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Linfield Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 777th, while the Knights are ranked 12th). As for San Joaquin Memorial, they will head out on the road to square off against the Apaches at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
