Da'Aquarius Barnes and Kuol Atak secure win for Haltom

Recap: Haltom Buffalos vs. Sam Houston Texans

The Haltom Buffalos entered their tilt with the Sam Houston Texans with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Haltom put the hurt on Sam Houston with a sharp 81-60 victory on Friday. Given Haltom's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Sam Houston is ranked 687th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Haltom was led to victory by Da'Aquarius Barnes and Kuol Atak. Barnes scored 26 points, while Atak scored 28 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barnes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Moore, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.

Sam Houston lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rylan Austin, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Terry Brock was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.

Haltom has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Sam Houston, they bumped their record down to 4-18 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Haltom will take on South Grand Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Grand Prairie has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 294 points over their last four games. As for Sam Houston, they will head out on the road to challenge Grand Prairie at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
