Preview: Kimball Jaguars vs. East Union Lancers
The Kimball Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the East Union Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Kimball earned a 57-44 victory over Central Catholic. Given Kimball's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Central Catholic is ranked 691st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kimball can attribute much of their success to Emma Coronado, who scored 13 points along with two steals, and Sierra Tuliau, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Ella Gregory was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, East Union had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.9 points), and they went ahead and made it 12 on Thursday. They walked away with a 55-44 victory over Manteca. That's two games straight that East Union has won by exactly 11 points.
Kimball has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for East Union, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Kimball came up short against East Union in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 50-44. Can Kimball avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
