Softball Recap: Eagle Valley Has No Trouble Against Battle Mountain

Eagle Valley barely beat Battle Mountain the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Devils blew past the Huskies 14-4 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Devils in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won six in a row.

Lily Brueck made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in August. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Lauryn Albers and Ava Brueck did most of the damage at the plate: Albers got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, while Ava went 1-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Brueck a new career-high. Bella D'Agostino was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Eagle Valley's record now sits at 6-13. As for Battle Mountain, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Eagle Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against Battle Mountain: the pair will be back at it again later today.
