Basketball Recap: Granada Hills Charter Comes Up Short

If Granada Hills Charter was riding high fresh off their 62-40 takedown of Cleveland last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders and the El Camino Real Royals didn't end well, with the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders falling 61-45. The Highlanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

El Camino Real's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Laila Bowens, who posted 13 points along with six assists and five steals. Bowens has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Amirah Smith, who went 6 of 9 en route to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Granada Hills Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 11-10. As for El Camino Real, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Granada Hills Charter has already played their next match (against Birmingham), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. El Camino Real has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Taft.
