Basketball Game Preview: Orcutt Academy Spartans vs. Sierra Pacific Golden Bears

The Orcutt Academy Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Sierra Pacific Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Orcutt Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Orcutt Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They snuck past Mission College Prep with a 56-52 victory.

It was another big night for Elizabeth Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 18 boards. She has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 35 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Allen, who posted four points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Sierra Pacific had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 37.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They blew past the Conquistadores 67-33. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Golden Bears had established a 32 point advantage.

Orcutt Academy better focus on containing Kimora Gardner and Riley Roux as the pair were huge in Sierra Pacific's win. Gardner scored eight points and seven steals, while Roux had 13 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Gardner is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Apajok Ayuen was another key player, putting up seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Sierra Pacific smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. They pulled down seven more offensive rebounds than Cabrillo's also-impressive total of 11.

Orcutt Academy's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points over those games. As for Sierra Pacific, their record now sits at 21-8.
