Football Recap: May River's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

May River dropped to 6-2 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They took a 31-15 bruising from the Hilton Head Island Seahawks. If the Sharks were looking for revenge after losing 23-10 to the Seahawks when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Although May River took the loss, they still got scores from Mason Sweigart and Luc Tran.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed nine in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Sweigart, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

As for Hilton Head Island, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.7 points over those games.

Thaddeus Czarnecki continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 134 yards and one TD on only 15 carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 102 rushing yards per game.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. May River will take on Beaufort at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hilton Head Island, they will challenge Colleton County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Seahawks will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
