Baseball Recap: Manchester Takes a Loss

Manchester had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-15 to make it seven. They fell 7-2 to the Jonesville Comets. The Flying Dutchmen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Comets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Manchester saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Steinman, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Jonesville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

On Jonesville's side, Maverick Baker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Baker was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Jonesville is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-14 otherwise.

In other batting news, Carson Young and Ian Doyle did most of the damage at the plate: Young went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Doyle went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Doyle has posted since back in April.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manchester will challenge Britton Deerfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jonesville, they will take on Quincy at 12:00 p.m. on the 30th.
