Basketball Recap: Burbank's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of seven wins, Burbank's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Johnson Warriors by a score of 39-37. If the Titans were looking for revenge after losing 37-29 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Burbank lost, don't look at Aniyah Bufford. Despite the final result, she posted four points in addition to 22 rebounds and eight steals. Bufford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 25 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tommiko Johnson, who put up eight points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Burbank smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 21 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Burbank's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5. As for Johnson, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-12.

Burbank has already played their next contest, a 66-47 defeat against Fortune Early College on the 11th. As for Johnson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-40 victory against Armijo on the 15th.
