Baseball Game Preview: Athens Warriors vs. Midwest Central Raiders

The Athens Warriors will face off against the Midwest Central Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Athens has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Athens didn't have quite enough to beat Olympia and fell 4-2. The Warriors have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Cole Ishmael and Carter Brock stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ishmael went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Brock went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Midwest Central lost 13-3 to Cuba/Spoon River Valley on Monday.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Midwest Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Athens got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Midwest Central by a conclusive 14-1 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
