Basketball Recap: Amador Valley Dons vs. Monte Vista Mustangs
Amador Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 50-42 to the Monte Vista Mustangs. One positive for the Dons, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Monte Vista found their leader in sophomore Naliyah Sefidi, who went 8 for 17 en route to 20 points plus eight steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessica Chiniquy, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Amador Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Monte Vista, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amador Valley will head out to square off against Alameda at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alameda has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 198 points over their last three contests. As for Monte Vista, they will take on Clayton Valley Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
