Softball Recap: Lithia Springs Lions vs. Alexander Cougars

Lithia Springs had lost seven straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-13 to make it eight. They lost 18-0 to the Alexander Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 on September 4th.

As for Alexander, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

For Alexander's part, Erin Vineyard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Vineyard was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last nine contests.

In other batting news, Alexander got a massive performance out of Alexis May, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave May a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Townsend, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Lithia Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alexander, they will be playing at home against Westlake at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
