Softball Recap: Central Fellowship Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Central Fellowship Christian Academy had lost nine straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 3-16 to make it ten. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tiftarea Academy Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Lancers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Alena Gibby made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Vesey, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

As for Tiftarea Academy, they now have a winning record of 7-6. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

On Tiftarea Academy's side, Summer Gray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. With that strong performance, Gray is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on McKenna Graham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Carmen Corkern, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Coming up, Central Fellowship Christian Academy will take on Vidalia Heritage Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.6 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tiftarea Academy, they will square off against Brookwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
