Baseball Recap: Lorain Takes a Loss

If Lorain was riding high fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Euclid on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Titans took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elyria Pioneers on Wednesday. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Pioneers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Lorain saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Giovanni Aybar, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run. Aybar is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Lorain's loss dropped their record down to 8-17-1. As for Elyria, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-18.

Lorain and Elyria could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Titans (ranked 566th) will meet Jackson (ranked 36th) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Elyria will square off against St. Ignatius at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (579 vs. 90).
