Baseball Recap: Hamilton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hamilton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Fairfield Indians on Friday by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was a revenge game for the Big Blue: when they faced off against the Indians on Wednesday, they had to take a 5-4 loss.

Asher Roy tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Hamilton's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 8-12 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Deion Oatis was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Sammy Platt also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Hamilton pushed their record up to 10-13 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fairfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.

Hamilton and Fairfield could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Big Blue (ranked 266th) will meet Indian Hill (ranked 83rd) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Fairfield will challenge St. Xavier at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (79 vs. 5).
