It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dominion Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cherokee Christian Warriors, sneaking past 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ben Elsey and Carter Cox did most of the damage at the plate: Elsey scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Cox went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double. Elsey also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Canaan Bowen was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Dominion Christian's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Cherokee Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Dominion Christian will venture away from home to challenge St. Pius X Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Pius X Catholic will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Dominion Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cherokee Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Dominion Christian at 3:00 p.m.
