Soccer Game Preview: Atkinson County vs. Brooks County

The Atkinson County Rebels will head out on the road to challenge the Brooks County Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Atkinson County sitting on eight straight victories and Brooks County on four.

Atkinson County's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Lanier County. Give Atkinson County's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Their offense was hitting Lanier County from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Carlos Otero led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Brooks County made easy work of Turner County on Thursday and carried off a 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for Brooks County, who have now won nine games by three goals or more so far this season.

Atkinson County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Brooks County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.

Atkinson County beat Brooks County by a goal when the teams last played on March 6th, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Atkinson County since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
