Arvada West extended their winning streak to six on Friday, bumping them up to 6-0. They walked away with a 13-8 win over the Horizon Hawks. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Morgan Farr made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Makinzi Gallegos and Addison Fousel did most of the damage at the plate: Gallegos went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while Fousel went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Fousel has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Macie Ferguson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Arvada West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
As for Horizon, they now have a losing record of 3-4. Even though they lost, their still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
On Horizon's side, Tessa Munsch and Kaiya Barela did some serious damage despite the final result: Munsch went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Barela went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Kesleigh Joule also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Arvada West didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-0 victory against Highlands Ranch on the 30th. Horizon has also already played their next game (against Ralston Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
